The Sun Hydraulics DRBBCDN (DRBBCDN) is a normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This versatile component is suitable for standalone use or for actuating larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses the preset threshold, with pressure at port 3 directly adding to the valve's setting. Due to this characteristic, port 3 may not be viable as a work port in some circuits; a 4-port version might be more appropriate if this is a concern. This direct-acting design ensures low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption, making it efficient and reliable. Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions are interchangeable, fitting the same cavities and maintaining consistent flow paths. The DRBBCDN is capable of modulating between two positions but is not bistable. It incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction to minimize potential binding of internal parts due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. The valve fits into a T-11A cavity, with a series capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It boasts a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and maintains maximum valve leakage at 2 in\u00b3/min (30 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). Adjustments can be made with up to five clockwise turns to increase the setting, utilizing an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm). The locknut hex size is 9/16 inch (15 mm), requiring torque between 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs .60 lb (.30 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for cartridge maintenance.

Normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
