The Sun Hydraulics RPGDABV (RPGDABV) is an air-controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge that utilizes compressed air over a diaphragm instead of an adjustable spring to control pressure settings. This design allows the valve to function as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. It features a port in the hex end of the cartridge for supplying the air signal. When the inlet port 1 reaches the designated pressure setting, the valve opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to maintain regulated pressure. Known for its accuracy and low pressure rise versus flow, this valve operates smoothly and quietly while offering moderate response speed. The RPGDABV model is suitable for applications requiring cross-port relief circuits and can handle maximum pressures at port 2. It has a maximum air pressure capacity of 150 psi (10 bar) and fits into Sun's T-3A cavity with Series 2 capacity, allowing for up to 50 gpm (200 L/min). The pilot ratio stands at 20:1 with a maximum operating pressure of 2000 psi (140 bar), and typical response time is around 10 ms. The valve exhibits minimal leakage with a maximum of 3 in³/min at 110 SUS (24 cSt) under conditions of up to 1000 psi (70 bar). Its design incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which reduces potential internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. The valve has a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and requires an installation torque between 45–50 lbf ft (61–68 Nm). Weighing approximately .50 lb (.25 kg), it comes with a Viton seal kit under part number: 990203006.

Air-controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges use compressed air over a diaphragm instead of an adjustable spring to control pressure setting. The air signal is supplied through a port in the hex-end of the cartridge. They are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

• Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
• Maximum air pressure should not exceed 150 psi (10 bar).
• All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
