The Sun Hydraulics RDJALBN/LH (RDJALBN/LH) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by limiting pressure rise. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the valve setting, effectively throttling flow. Known for its smooth and quiet operation, this valve is essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, and immune to silting with a rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. The RDJALBN/LH is physically and functionally interchangeable with all 2-port relief cartridges except pilot reliefs, featuring the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. It can withstand maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. The valve's design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min), it is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and contamination. Backpressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Adjustments can only be made when system pressure is removed, with settings checked via clockwise turns on the adjustment screw. This model also supports systems using phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids. Its ability to accept factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min) ensures high repeatability when selecting a spring range where desired relief settings are midrange or higher between minimum and maximum pressures.
