The Sun Hydraulics FMDBDAV224N (FMDBDAV224N) is a 3-way, meter-in, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. When unenergized, this valve configuration blocks the supply at port 1 while connecting port 2 to the tank at port 3. Upon energizing the coil, a closing force is applied to the spool, creating a metering orifice in the 1 to 2 direction proportional to the coil command current. This valve offers self-compensation in this direction and can be pressure compensated with an external compensator for enhanced flow control. However, flow between ports 2 and 3 is not proportional. The FMDBDAV224N facilitates closed transition between positions and allows users to create a 4-way system using two of these valves without requiring custom spools. For pressure compensation, it can be paired with modulating logic elements like LRCXHN for bypass circuits or LPCXHN for restrictive circuits.
