The Sun Hydraulics CBBGLCV (CBBGLCV) is a meticulously engineered counterbalance valve designed to manage the control of overrunning loads effectively. This valve features a check valve that permits free flow from the directional valve port to the load port, while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve regulates flow from port to port. The pilot assist at the specified port enhances the relief valve's effectiveness by reducing its setting according to the predetermined pilot ratio. This model is optimized for settings at least 1.3 times the maximum load-induced pressure, ensuring robust performance under various operational conditions. The adjustment mechanism is straightforward; turning clockwise decreases the setting and releases the load, with full clockwise providing minimal pressure under 5 psi (less than 0.34 bar). Counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio.

  • Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
  • Restrictive valves have no relief capacity other than as a thermal relief.
