The Sun Hydraulics RVGALAN (RVGALAN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge valve designed for precise pressure regulation. This valve is typically used in hydraulic systems to maintain desired pressure levels by opening to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure. It features a vent port 3 for remote control by other pilot or two-way valves, allowing for versatile applications. The RVGALAN is known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow characteristics, smooth and quiet operation, and moderate response speed. It accepts maximum pressure at port 2 and can be used in cross-port relief circuits with consideration of spool leakage. This valve includes a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen but is not suitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The cartridge is available with EPDM seals for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids, though these seals are susceptible to damage from petroleum-based fluids and lubricants. Its design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations.
