The Sun Hydraulics RPGELCN (RPGELCN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to throttle flow and limit pressure rise when the inlet port reaches the set pressure. The valve features a low pressure rise versus flow and operates with rapid response times, typically around 2 milliseconds. It is suitable for use in cross port relief circuits, accepting maximum pressure at port 2. However, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, and the valve's construction minimizes internal part binding during installation. The RPGELCN supports a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min). Back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, and cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based substances. The valve's hex size is 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm), with installation torque ranging from 45 to 50 lbf-ft (61 to 68 Nm).
