The Sun Hydraulics RDBALBN (RDBALBN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed as a normally closed, pressure-limiting valve to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the inlet port pressure reaches the valve's setting, it opens to the tank port, throttling flow to limit pressure rise. This valve features smooth and quiet operation with essentially zero leakage, dirt tolerance, and immunity to silting. It is also known for its rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. The RDBALBN is suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications due to its ability to accept maximum pressure at port 2. The valve's seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure, requiring adjustment only when pressure is removed. It exhibits minimal sensitivity to oil temperature variations and contamination. For optimal performance, select a spring range where the desired relief setting is mid-range to high between minimum and maximum pressures for maximum repeatability. The valve's back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge configurations.
