The Sun Hydraulics NFDDYGV (NFDDYGV) is a versatile needle valve designed for precision flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice is ideal for applications requiring fine control of fluid flow, as it can be adjusted from a fully closed position to the maximum orifice diameter. The valve is not pressure compensated, meaning it regulates flow based on the pressure differential across its ports, making it suitable for use as a flow control or shutoff valve. Notably, the NFDDYGV features a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustments even under high-pressure conditions, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. This valve supports bidirectional flow, with the preferred direction being from port 1 to port 2 to maintain compatibility with other flow controls. When closed, there is no leakage past the adjustment mechanism, ensuring reliable shutoff performance. It can handle a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min) and withstands a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The NFDDYGV's installation specifications include a valve hex size of 1 1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and an installation torque range of 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm). Additionally, it features an internal hex size for the adjustment screw of 5/32 inches (4 mm) and requires a locknut torque between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The cartridge model weighs .60 lb (.30 kg) and is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids will damage these seals. For maintenance purposes, Viton seal kits are available under part number 990203006.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
- There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
